COVID-19 Delta Variant Update

Dear Church Family
As you know, from the onset of the Covd-19 situation, we have attempted to follow the guidance and recommendations of the CDC and the VDH, in ever-changing circumstances.  The latest such recommendations are that all persons, vaccinated and unvaccinated “to maximize protection from the Delta variant and prevent possibly spreading it to others, wear a mask indoors in public if you are in an area of substantial or high transmission.”  With the recent and rapid spread of the Delta variant, the entire area served by our congregation is unfortunately considered an area of “high transmission.”
Consequently, the elders have concluded that in the interest of protecting the health of the entire church body, and to take seriously our loving responsibilities to the communities in which we live and work, at the present, masks will be required at all times by all in attendance in our building.  An exception will be made for worship leaders, who will be removing their mask while they are speaking or leading singing from a socially distanced position, and members will of course need to make minor adjustments while taking the Lord’s Supper.  We recognize that this is not what any of us prefer, especially as regards singing.  But we can always “make melody in our hearts” and know that God hears the message of our praise, whatever the volume.
Family, we want to be Christ-like in every way possible, and we know that while present on earth, Jesus cared about relieving the suffering and curing the illnesses of the people he came in contact with.  If it is within our power to potentially protect others with this very small sacrifice, so be it.  We will continue to review and monitor the situation on a weekly basis, and trust that we can continue to rely on your patience in this ever changing situation.  Please join us in praying that the problems associated with this virus will soon be over.
In Him
The Elders
