Discover. . . giving the gift of reading
The gift of literacy is the gift of a lifetime!
March is National Reading Month, join our church family in supporting literacy in our local community by donating one or more of the 11 books from the list link on the right. These books have been selected by reading specialist because of the value they bring to help students develop strong reading skills and habits.
Our goal is to provide at least 20 copies of each title between our church family and our friends in the community this is very achievable. A private donor has also pledged that for every title we receive 20 donations for, they will add an additional 5 titles.
Effective literacy skills open the doors to more educational and employment opportunities so that people are able to pull themselves out of poverty and chronic underemployment. In our increasingly complex and rapidly changing technological world, it is essential that individuals continuously expand their knowledge and learn new skills in order to keep up with the pace of change. Please consider donating a book from the list and sharing this with friends and family so others can donate as well.
Donations will be accepted from January 23rd through March 22nd.
We are also having a book sorting and boxing party the evening of March 23rd to get the books ready for delivery. After all the work we will will enjoy a pizza party and have several people share their favorite children's books during the pizza party!
There are several ways for you to donate:
Starting January 23rd there will be a secure donation bin under the front porch of the church building for you to drive up and drop off.
You may order via Amazon.com, Barnes & Noble, Target etc... and have the books shipped directly to the church building c/o "Book Drive".
There will also be a collection bin in the glass foyer of the church building.
You may also make a monetary donation and we can do the shopping for you.
